Flett Trading Post began with a dream shared by two young Indigenous people determined to carve out a space where our culture, art, and voices could thrive. One of us was an artist, pouring heart and history into beadwork, painting, and handmade goods, but unsure how to bring that work to the world. The other had a passion for business and community, and knew the power of visibility and fair opportunity. Together, we saw a need. We knew there were so many Indigenous artists with incredible stories, skills, and teachings, but few places that honoured their work with the respect it deserves. So we created Flett Trading Post, a space to uplift, connect, and support Indigenous makers while staying rooted in who we are. Inspired by the traditional trading posts of our ancestors where goods were exchanged, relationships were built, and stories were shared. We wanted to offer something similar, but for today. A place where art meets purpose, where every item carries culture, and where artists don’t have to choose between authenticity and opportunity.We work directly with Indigenous artists to help them get their work to market fairly, respectfully, and proudly. Whether it’s a drum, a pair of beaded earrings, or a printed card with our language on it, everything in our shop is made with intention, and every sale supports real people, real families, and real traditions.This is more than a business. It’s a movement.
